CHARTER

The Nac Brew Club, officially founded on the 16th of July 2011, is an organization whose focus shall remain on the following five principles for its members.

  1. To have fun, responsibly.
  2. To promote, educate, and enjoy the legal home brewing of beer, ale, mead, and wine.
  3. To have meetings and events which allow for a self-sustaining organization,
  4. while adhering to the first two principles Respect and abide by the rules of The American Homebrew Association, of which Nac Brew Club is a member. Respect and abide by the laws of the State of Texas and City of Nacogdoches.
  5. Remain a positive influence and helpful entity to our Members and Community (Nacogdoches County, Texas.)

 

Membership in Nac Brew Club requires the following:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Members must have an active interest in home brewing or wine making.
  3. Annual membership dues are $25 until the first of the month of Spring Brew Fest Brewfest, at which time dues increase to $35. Dues must be paid at the January or February meeting and are valid until December of that year. Members not paying dues by the first of June will be removed from the club roster, not eligible for officer positions, and not allowed to attend functions or meetings until dues are paid.
  4. Attendance at meetings is not required but strongly encouraged. There are two levels of membership:
    1. Active – Paid and attend more than half of the monthly meetings in the previous year. Active members are eligible for all officer positions.
    2. Inactive – Paid and attend less than half of the monthly meetings in the previous year. Inactive members are eligible for CMAA and Historian positions only.

The Brew Club will keep a tally of attendance beginning at the October 2014 meeting.

  1. Members determined to be a threat or menace to any other member or guest of the Nac Brew Club shall be removed from the Nac Brew Club. Any such occurrence(s) must be communicated to the officers of the Nac Brew Club who will determine and vote on the situation with all the information they can obtain. If the offending member is an officer the club shall vote at the next meeting on the member’s status.
  2. In the event that a majority of the Nac Brew Club believe a member should not be involved with the group for any reason; those members may submit a written request to the club officers for review and vote on the member’s involvement. If a club officer is the member targeted in the written petition, a popular vote will decide the officer’s membership.
  3. In the event of an officer being removed from the club, an election for that position shall occur at the next meeting. That position will be held by the election winner until the regular elections.

 

Organization of the Nac Brew Club

  1. The Nac Brew Club shall meet on or near the 15th of every month. Location and time will be determined before the meeting and broadcast via the group’s Web page and Facebook page two weeks before the meeting occurs. The club President sets the meeting time and place.
  2. The Nac Brew Club does not promote the sale or consumption of any alcoholic beverage to minors.
  3. The Nac Brew Club does not sell beer, wine, liquor or distilled spirits of any kind. Monies gained via events, donations or sponsorship by businesses are to foster education and further the goals of the Nac Brew Club as a whole.
  4. Elections for officer positions shall occur at the monthly meeting every October. All elections shall be determined by popular vote of all members in attendance of the October meeting. Those officers will take their respective positions on the first day of November the following month. Nominations for those positions will begin at the September meeting and continue until the October meeting or event, at which time all attending members will vote for all positions. Positions and their respective responsibilities are listed and explained below
  5. The Nac Brew Club shall strive to have two annual events, Brewfest in the spring and an Octoberfest at the October meeting.
  6. Changes or amendments to the Nac Brew Club Charter shall be announced by the Club President at the September meeting and voted on by participating members at the October meeting.

 

Officer requirements and duties

  1. All officers, excluding CMMA and Historian must be in an active member status.
  2. Each position is held yearly and selected by popular vote as specified above.
  3. Officers shall seek to run and promote the Nac Brew Club in a favorable manner to its members and to the local community.
  4. Officers shall attend all meetings of the brew club unless unforeseeable circumstances do not allow that to occur.

 

  • Club President
  1. In the event that the Club President cannot attend a club function the Nac Brew Club Vice President, or then Treasurer, or then Secretary shall stand in for the Club President on all meeting issues.
  2. The Club President shall be the final decision on any club votes at a dead lock.
  3. The Club President must meet with the Club Treasurer to account for the Nac Brew Club current accounting and provide the club’s monetary balance every three months (March, June, September, and December club meetings.)
  4. The club president will set the meeting time, date, and location monthly. The President will call the meeting to order and conduct the meeting.
  5. The Club President is responsible for the topics of each meeting; all members are encouraged to bring issues, topics, and concerns to the Club President. Those issues, topics, and concerns should then be part of the next club meeting.
  6. The Club President shall coordinate the May and October events by appointing committees to coordinate and run the varying aspects of those events. All major decisions for those events shall be covered at the club meetings.

 

  • Club Vice President
  1. In the event that the Club Vice President cannot attend a club function the Nac Brew Club Treasurer, or then Secretary shall stand in for the Club Vice President on all meeting issues.
  2. The Club Vice President must meet with the Club Treasurer to account for the Nac Brew Club current accounting and provide the club’s monetary balance every three months (March, June, September, and December club meetings.)
  3. The Club Vice President shall assist the Club President on meeting location, club issues and topic planning. Those issues, topics, and concerns should then be part of the next club meeting.
  4. The Vice President will maintain a roster of club members and their status.
  5. The Club Vice President shall assist in coordinating the May and October events by organizing committees to coordinate and run the varying aspects of those events.
  6. The Vice President will address the club at each meeting. All major decisions for those events shall be covered at the club meetings.

 

  • Club Treasurer
  1. In the event that the Club Treasurer cannot attend a club function the Nac Brew Club Secretary shall stand in for the Club Treasurer on all meeting issues.
  2. The Club Treasure shall be responsible for the collection and accounting of all club membership dues, fundraising events, donations, sponsorships, gifts and merchandise sales.
  3. The Club Treasurer shall make every effort in the avoidance of the sale of alcohol by the Nac Brew Club.
  4. The Club Treasurer shall keep an accurate record of the clubs monetary intake and spending.
  5. ALL club related expenditures and incomes shall be checked through and reported to this position.
  6. The Club Treasurer is responsible for never allowing the club to fall into negative funds. If the Nac Brew Club is to fall into a negative funds situation, the club will vote for a new member to take the Club Treasure position at the next club meeting.
  7. The Club Treasurer shall meet with the Club President in March, June, September, and December before the 15th of each monthly meeting to check the Nac Brew Club account balance and assist in the report to the club members at those meetings.
  8. The Club Treasurer will brief the club at the beginning of each meeting on any relevant information.
  9. All records shall be passed on to incumbent Club Treasurer after elections at the meeting.

 

  • Club Secretary
  1. In the event that the Club Secretary cannot attend a club function the Nac Brew Club President, or then Club Treasurer shall stand in for the Club Secretary on all meeting issues.
  2. The Club Secretary shall keep and log minutes from Nac Brew Club meetings and read the last meetings minutes at the beginning of each club meeting.
  3. Summaries from Nac Brew Club events shall be entered into the club records on the web page and Facebook group.

 

  • Club Historian
  1. The Club Historian will maintain the web page and club Facebook page.
  2. The Club Historian will be responsible for all press releases and social media updates.
  3. All records shall be passed on to incumbent Historian after elections.
  4. The Club Historian should strive to obtain entire club group pictures two times a year with names to match those in the pictures.
  5. Lessons learned and discussed at meetings following events with public attendance shall be recorded to assist the club in future events. Those lessons shall be logged in the club files.

 

  • Club Master At Arms (CMAA)
  1. The CMAA shall assist the Club President and Vice President on meeting location, club issues and topic planning. Those issues, topics, and concerns should then be part of the next club meeting.
  2. The CMAA shall assist in coordinating the membership drive and events. All major decisions for those events shall be covered at the club meetings.
  3. The CMAA shall act as a liaison to other Homebrew Clubs, e.g., be a point of contact for other club events and for our Brewfest.
  4. The CMAA shall maintain the club g-mail account.
  5. The CMAA shall brief the club at the beginning of each meeting on other clubs events.
